What Is ERP Integration?

ERP integration is the process of connecting an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which manages core business data like orders, inventory, and finance, with other systems such as TMS, WMS, or shipment visibility platforms, so data flows automatically between them.

How Does ERP Integration Work?

Rather than manually re-entering data across systems, ERP integration uses APIs or middleware to sync information in near real time, an order created in the ERP automatically triggers a shipment in the TMS, and a delivery confirmation from a visibility platform automatically updates order status in the ERP.

Why ERP Integration Matters

Without integration, teams manually reconcile data across systems, which is slow and error-prone, and creates a lag between when something happens (a shipment delay) and when the systems that depend on that data know about it. Well-integrated systems keep every function working from the same, current data, rather than a fragmented, delayed picture.
