LCL / FCL

LCL / FCL

LCL (Less than Container Load) and FCL (Full Container Load) refer to shipment modes where cargo is consolidated with other shipments in a shared container or occupies an entire container, respectively.

Less than Container Load (LCL) refers to a shipping arrangement where multiple smaller shipments from different shippers are consolidated and shipped together within a single container. In contrast to Full Container Load (FCL), where a single shipper's goods occupy an entire container, LCL allows multiple shippers to share container space and split the shipping costs proportionally based on the volume or weight of their respective cargoes.

LCL is advantageous for small to medium-sized shipments that do not fill an entire container, offering cost-effectiveness and flexibility by optimizing container space and accommodating shipments from various origins and destinations within the same container. This approach facilitates efficient international trade, allowing businesses with smaller cargo volumes to access global shipping services without the need for a full container.
