Carriers Reshuffle Asia–East Coast South America Loops as Joint Service Ends

What Happened?

Container carriers are revamping Asia–East Coast South America networks following the dissolution of the Maersk and CMA CGM joint service. The realignment moves Ocean Alliance members to dedicated loops and pushes independent lines to new rotations, reducing Asia-origin capacity by an estimated 4%. Shippers face tighter space allocations and fewer direct port calls beginning December 2024.
