What Happened?
Hapag-Lloyd has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) for cargo moving from Europe to South-East India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Effective for sailings from 1 October 2026, the carrier will raise rates by US$100 per container. This financial adjustment will increase shipping costs for shippers and forwarders on this trade route.
