Hapag-Lloyd Updates Low Water Surcharges for Rhine River Barge Transport
What Happened?
Hapag-Lloyd will introduce revised low water surcharges for all import and export barge transport on the Rhine River, effective 1 November 2026. These surcharges are dependent on water levels at four key gauges, increasing shipping costs for cargo owners.
