Hapag-Lloyd Updates Low Water Surcharge for Manaus Shipments Amid Amazon Basin Conditions
What Happened?
Hapag-Lloyd has revised its Low Water Surcharge (LWS) for all container types moving to and from Manaus, Brazil. This update is due to worsening hydrological conditions in the Amazon Basin. Effective October 12, 2026, the LWS will be USD 1,350 per container, increasing to USD 3,500 if a floating pier is necessary.
