Hapag-Lloyd Launches New Rail Service Between Rotterdam and Germersheim
What Happened?
Hapag-Lloyd is introducing a temporary weekly rail service between Rotterdam and Germersheim to mitigate inland transport disruptions from low water levels on the Rhine. Operating from 18 September to 31 December 2026, the service provides an alternative to the carrier's barge network. This new connection will add predictable capacity for shippers moving cargo into Germany's Rhine region.
