Hapag-Lloyd Announces $1,000 General Rate Increase for North America Shipments
What Happened?
Hapag-Lloyd will implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) of US$1,000 per container for shipments from the Indian Subcontinent, Pakistan, and the Middle East to North America. Effective September 15, 2026, this rate hike will apply to all 20-foot and 40-foot container types. Shippers will face increased costs for cargo gated from the effective date.
