Maersk Implements New Fuel Surcharges and Local Charge Revisions
What Happened?
Maersk is increasing inland logistics costs for shippers by introducing new, weekly-reviewed fuel surcharges in Cyprus (12.5%) and North Macedonia (20%) effective 7 September 2026. The carrier is also revising several optional local charges in Brazil, such as for Bill of Lading amendments, which will increase ancillary costs for customers starting 1 October 2026. These changes introduce greater cost volatility and are attributed to fuel price hikes and inflation.
