Maersk Implements Peak Season Surcharge for North Europe to US Shipments

What Happened?

Maersk will introduce a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) of US$1,000 per container for all non-spot shipments from North Europe to the United States, effective 19 August 2026. This surcharge, applicable to all container types, is a response to strengthening market demand and aims to support service reliability. The measure will directly increase shipping costs for cargo owners and forwarders on this transatlantic trade lane.
