MSC Implements New Freight Rates and Surcharges for Transatlantic Trade Lane
What Happened?
MSC will implement new Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates and mandatory surcharges on its transatlantic trade lane from Northwest Europe and Scandinavia/Baltic to North America. These adjustments, effective October 1, 2026, will increase shipping costs by $450 per TEU, covering bunker, emissions, and Panama Canal fees. The implementation date depends on either gate-in or sailing date based on the destination country.
