Kenya Implements Mandatory Advance Cargo Declaration for All Container Imports
What Happened?
Effective August 3, 2026, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has implemented a mandatory Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) for all containerized cargo imported into Kenyan ports. Shippers must obtain a 15-digit ACD Reference Code before cargo loading and ensure it is reflected on the final Bill of Lading. Failure to comply with this new regulation may result in customs delays, cargo holds, and potential penalties at the customer's expense.
