Pakistan Imposes New Consignee Identification Rules for Imports

What Happened?

Effective August 15, 2026, Pakistan will enforce new consignee identification requirements for all import shipments, as per Pakistan Customs SRO 882(I)/2026. Shippers must provide specific identifiers, such as a National Tax Number (NTN), in shipping instructions and Bills of Lading at the time of booking. Non-compliance risks Import General Manifest (IGM) rejection, leading to potential cargo discharge issues, shipment delays, and additional costs for importers.
