Panama Canal Increases Draft and Future Transit Capacity

What Happened?

The Panama Canal has immediately increased the maximum authorized draft for Neopanamax vessels to 14.94 meters (49 feet) due to improved water conditions. Daily transit capacity is also scheduled to increase to 33 slots from October 15, 2026, though reservations remain mandatory to avoid delays.
