Tropical Shipping Adjusts St. Maarten Rates with New GRI
What Happened?
Tropical Shipping will implement a revised rate structure for St. Maarten effective September 13, 2026. While two existing surcharges will be removed, a significant General Rate Increase (GRI) of US$480 per 20-foot and US$530 per 40-foot container will be introduced. This change is expected to result in a net cost increase for most full-container-load shipments to the island.
