CMA CGM Implements Overweight Surcharge for Far East to Africa Shipments

What Happened?

CMA CGM will introduce a new Overweight Surcharge (OWS) for 20-foot dry containers exceeding 18 tonnes on the Far East to South Africa and Mauritius trade lanes. Effective August 15, 2026, this US$500 per container charge will increase costs for shippers transporting heavy goods on these routes.
