Maersk Implements Inland Reefer Surcharge at Algeciras Port Due to Congestion

What Happened?

Maersk is introducing an Inland Peak Season Surcharge (IPI) for import reefer haulage at the Port of Algeciras, Spain. This surcharge is a direct response to severe port congestion and high storage occupancy during the citrus season, causing operational delays for inland transport. It will increase logistics costs for importers of refrigerated cargo through this port.
